RECIPE: Warm Apple Crumble

This is one of the best and healthiest versions of Apple Crumble you will ever taste. Dietitian Mel is giving you the go ahead to not feel guilty about this one. Packed with some great nutrition hits - high-fibre carbohydrates, a protein punch and naturally sweetened with green apples and honey.

Serves: 3-4. | Method: 10 mins. | Cooking: 40 mins

INGREDIENTS:

The perfect Winter Warmer: Dietitian Mel’s Healthy Apple Crumble Recipe. Enjoy for dessert or even breakfast for an extra treat!

Filling

  • 3 medium green apples, sliced

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Crumble

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup almond meal

  • 1/2 cup coconut (flakes are great!)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil

METHOD:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.

  2. Place apple slices in a medium-sized baking dish. Sprinkle cinnamon over apples and stir through. Bake for 15 minutes.

  3. Mix all crumble ingredients in a large bowl. Pour the crumble over the baked apple base.

  4. Bake for another 25 minutes. Half way through cooking time, use a spoon to mix crumble to ensure all crumble cooks through. Cook until golden brown.

  5. Serve with yoghurt and fresh blueberries if you have them handy!
